Weekend at Port Stephens

Weekend at Port Stephens

Last weekend, I took a break from staring and editing the pictures I’m going to use in my new fabric flower tutorials.  We went to Port Stephens in NSW to celebrate my big sister’s 40th birthday. The weather was really nice and sunny… plus the food was so good!

We had lunch at Bub’s Famous Fish and Chips. I’m not a Fish and Chips connoisseur but Bub’s fish fillet is really yummy. I think their secret on having this great tasting fish fillet is their freshly caught local fish and their  batter.  The fish had this creamy and delicate texture and the crispiness of their batter just makes it perfect.

Calamari, Chips, Fish Fillet, and some $2 dips.

We took advantage of the nice sunny weather and went to the beach at Shoal Bay.  The )water was really cold but it was redeemed by the warm sun.  There were no lifeguards in the beach (I admit, I was a little disappointed not to see those goodlooking DHL lifeguards) and I barely know how to swim so I just had my feet wet so at least I can tell my mum and friends that I took a dip in a beautiful Australian beach when I get home in the Philippines. Oh and it was also my first time to see a wild penguin hunting for fish! The penguin was really swift in the water.

My big sister and my nephew checking out the water.

My I’m-A-Tourist Sand Writing Fail:  the only drawback on having a long shop name is that you can’t spell it all out on the sand and take good pictures of it.  Let this be a lesson to all you who are planning to start up a business… have a one syllable shop name.

If you already have a long shop name and not planning to change it, you can still salvage it by just writing your shop’s initials. :D  Yep, Jewel Box Ballerina was in Australia.

Macadamia Nuts at the Medowie Macadamia Nut Farm

On our way home, we went to Medowie Macadamia Nut Farm to have a light snack.

Having a grand entrance to my thighs:  The Caramel Bar.  I don’t care how sweet this caramel bar is. To me it was so divine! I wish I licked all the caramel on  my plate. Yes, the sugar content kept me up till midnight.

My hot chocolate served with a chocolate covered macadamia.  Mmmmm.
